Must-Read Articles 11/04/17

Hello, everyone! We hope you had a great weekend. Here you’ll find a compilation of interesting articles that we enjoyed ourselves last week. We hope that these will inspire you with new ideas for your workplace and facility management teams!

Every aspect of the work environment is crucial to success.

Shreesha Ghosh at International Business Times discusses the data behind maintaining proper temperatures in the workplace. While there are many variables to this, there’s an average range of comfort level for most people that should be easy enough to find which can lead to an easy way to boost productivity. Want even more control over your HVAC systems? Our occupancy sensors have an open API so you can save money by only using HVAC when and where you need it.

The U.S. is behind some countries in our shift towards flexible work.

While not too far behind, this article from Business Standard shows that many developed countries have some work to do in order to stay competitive, and that may mean changing our views on the traditional 9-5 workday. “What people want is changing. They are working longer, learning more and seeking a better balance between work and home. Not everyone wants to engage only as a full-time employee and organizations do not always want that either.”

Cities are finally taking broader steps towards becoming environmentally friendly.

It may be a little off in years, but big plans and changes are coming to major cities. Member cities of the C40 Coalition have decided that they are going to introduce emissions-free neighborhoods and buses in the coming years as part of reaching the goals set forth by the Paris Agreement. As these cities work to do their part, we hope to see other cities follow their lead in order to reach these goals.
